Ronald Dover

Ronald Meek Dover, 68, of Bessemer City, passed away on August 24, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born on November 26, 1946 in York County, SC to the late James Victor and Rosella Carroll Dover.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brooke Paysour.

Ron grew up in Kings Mountain and graduated from Kings Mountain High School. He also was a graduate of North Carolina State University. Ron was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Bessemer City where he was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was also a deacon and served as chairman of the deacons. Ron was a member of the American Legion who served 10 years with the United States Marine Corps including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was on the board of Flynn Fellowship Home in Gastonia. Ron was the owner of RMD Associates of Bessemer City.

Ron is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gale Clark Dover; son, Eric Dover and wife Edie of Mooresville, NC; daughter, Dana Herriman and husband Stan of Gastonia; sister, Jama Dover of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Cori Wright and husband Devin, Payden Zegarzewski and husband David, Alexandra Dover, Emily Paysour, Joshua Hinson, Caiti Herriman, Neil Herriman and wife Amy, Beneth Smith and husband Seth; great-grandchildren, Danica and Cambri Wright.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 27, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Weaver, Dr. Charles Brawley and Rev. Tom Ravan officiating.

Interment will follow in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and Bessemer City American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Sisk-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
