Ronnie Putnam

Ronnie Dean Putnam, Sr., 70, passed away on Wednesday July 19, 2017 at home. He was born on August 2, 1946 in Gaston County to the late Joe Lane and Stella Fincannon Putnam.

Ronnie was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He was owner - operator of R & H Superette-Convenience Store of Bessemer City for almost 30 years and worked for Pepsi Cola for 10 years. Ronnie was a member of the Bessemer City Whetstone Masonic Lodge #515. He loved to travel with his wife, nephew Roger and wife Terri Putnam and his friend Jim Harmon. Ronnie also enjoyed taking his grandchildren on trips. He liked going fishing and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn, Lawrence, and Herman Putnam; sisters Margie Todd, Frances Baker and Joyce Homesley.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Barbara Long Putnam; son Ronnie Dean Putnam, Jr. of Kings Mountain; daughter and son-in- law Dana Putnam Whitesides and Terry Whitesides of Kings Mountain; sister Nelline Hovis of Kings Mountain; grandsons Brandon, Zackary, Casey Whitesides; granddaughters Sarah and Ashley Putnam; great-grandson Brantley Whitesides and mother Taylor Haney; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law.

His family will receive friends from 12:30- 2:30 Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Westview Baptist Church, Bessemer City.

His Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the church with Rev. Jerry Millwood and Rev. Greg Neely officiating.

Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
