Sabel Meeks

Sabel Jan Pruitt Meeks, 65, of Gastonia went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2013 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born September 19, 1947 in Gaston County, to the late Andy and Ella Kate Kelly Pruitt.

Sabel was a woman who loved God. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. She was not only a mother to her own children, but was also a mother to many others. Her loving, generous and fun spirit will live on through the lives of all those who loved her. She was an operator with Southern Bell and she also worked at Baco Machine Shop. She was a member of Ragan Wesleyan Church, Gastonia.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Roscoe Meeks, Jr.; sons, Roger Dale Cook, Jr. and wife Jodie of Bessemer City, Thomas Dale Meeks and wife Michelle of Charlotte; daughters, Kelly Melissa Cook Franklin and husband Jo-D of Bessemer City, Mary Louise Meeks Turner of Gastonia; brothers, Hap Pruitt, Matt Pruitt and Ty Pruitt all of Gastonia, Chris Pruitt and wife Carolyn of Candler; sisters, Sandy Killette, Debra Griggs and husband Steve both of Gastonia, Mitzi Weiderman of Winston -Salem, Candace Alexander and husband Rick of Ranlo, Betty Culberston of Gastonia, Kay Kellerman of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Thor and wife Kayla, Hillary, Jordan, Bailey, Jacob, Gabby and Alex.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dap Pruitt and Tap Pruitt; brother-in-law, Andy Killette, Sr.

Her funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Sisk Butler Funeral &Cremation Services, Bessemer City with Rev. Roger Parsons and Rev. Dick Whitener officiating.

Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.

Her family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
