SAM LACOUNT
Sam LaCount, 96, of Bessemer City, passed away on February 10, 2013, at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia. He was born September 10, 1916 in Clarke County, Georgia to the late William and Amanda Crawford LaCount.
Sam was a member of First Baptist Church, Bessemer City and retired from Uniroyal Chemical Plant, Gastonia. He served with the United States Army in Panama during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Newton, brothers, Roy LaCount, Paul LaCount, John LaCount; sister, Bessie Mae Fowler.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Farris LaCount; son, Jerry LaCount of the home
daughter, Bertha Wilson of Spartanburg, SC; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at3:00 pm Tuesday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel, Bessemer City with Rev. Tom Raven officiating.
Interment will follow at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City with military honors by Bessemer City American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
