Steven "Steve" Hamby

Steven Keith Hamby, 61, of Gastonia, passed away at Caromont Regional Medical Center on April 13, 2022. He was born September 18, 1960, in Gaston County, to the late Grady Brance and Melva Lorene Cope Hamby.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Hamby.

Steve had a long career in textiles and was presently employed at Coats Textile Company. He loved spending time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and harmonica. Steve never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He loved his dog, Rascal, and his new fur baby, Tucker.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years, Renee Hamby; daughter, Kimmie Vanderlann (Travis); sister, Kathy Brummitt (Martin); brothers, Jeff, and Jerry Hamby; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at

Sisk Butler Funeral Home.

Steve’s funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Sisk Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Lee officiating.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens.
