Stewart Coley, Sr.

Stewart Lee Coley, Sr., 81, of Gastonia, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on October 20, 2021. He was born November 15, 1939, in Caswell County to the late Stewart Benjamin “Buck” Coley and Roberta Katherine Everette Coley.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Bridgett Lee Hayes.

Stewart was a longtime employee of Eckerd Drugs and worked later as a security officer until the age of 80. He was a generous man who opened his home to people in need and never met a stranger. Stewart loved fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is wife of 48 years, Shirley Brigman Coley; children, Stewart Coley, Jr. (Melissa), Reneé Coley Stepp (Eddie), Sherrie Hayes Adams, Michelle Hayes Pillow, James Lee Coley and Ashley Coley McGill; grandchildren, Ross Adams, Hunter Adams, Fallon Adams, Brittany Pillow, Trevor Pillow, Corey Stepp, Anna Logan, Brayden Coley, Ashley Hunt, Alexis Grove, Christie Brown; great-grandchildren, Morgan Davis, Ryder Adams, Chase McGill, Irelynn Stepp, Ellie Jo Logan, Madelyn Jane Logan, Josie Stepp and Harmony Brown; sisters, Kitty Coley Willis, Helen Adkins, Lillie Ann Lambert; brother, Tommy Coley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Stewart’s graveside service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Adrian Franklin officiating.
