Susan Newton

Susan Cochcroft Newton, 66, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at her home in Charlotte. She was born June 21, 1946 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Dr. Roy L. Cochcroft and Lucy Boozer Cochcroft.

Susan received her B.S. in Nursing from Lenoir Rhyne College in May of 1970 and practiced as a Registered Nurse for 41 years. She worked in Charlotte for Presbyterian Hospital from 1993-2011.

Susan is survived by her husband, William E. Newton of Charlotte; son, Matthew Newton of Charlotte; daughter, Paige Newton Prichard of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Raleigh Prichard and Carter Prichard; brothers, Douglas P. Cochcroft and Roy L. Cochcroft, Jr. (Ronny). Susan is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Roy L. Cochcroft; mother, Lucy B. Cochcroft; brothers, Stephen Cochcroft and Michael Cochcroft.

A graveside service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. A.A. Bailey officiating. The family is requesting that everyone in attendance please bring fresh cut flowers from their own gardens to be left at the graveside.
