Tennie Groves

Tennie Elizabeth Groves, 45, of Bessemer City, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

Tennie was born in Gastonia on August 18, 1970.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Doris Plyler, Harry Sr. and Hazel Groves.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents, Brandt and Charlene Groves of Bessemer City; fiancé, Sam Hovis of the home; brothers, Harry Groves and wife Amy of Gastonia, Charles Groves and wife April of Bessemer City; nieces and nephews, Hannah, Brandt and Clay Groves, Bailey and Watts Bumgardner; special "daughter," Kara-Layne Ellis; mother-in-law, Willodean Hovis of the home; other family, Larry and Martha Bumgardner of Belmont, Don and Emmy Morgan of Shelby, Mike Morgan of Oak Island, Billy and Sandy Bryson of Katy TX, Tim and Shelly Keener and Laura of Katy TX; special aunts, Sally and Boots; her pet cat, Mac.

Tennie had an exceptional love for all of the children in her life. She was also an extraordinarily loyal and faithful friend to many. These included life-long friends; Laura Christenberry, Robin Chaney, Dale Glenn and too many more to list.

Her graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday May 20, 2016 at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Debra Short and Rev. Greg Ballard officiating..

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Eric Nichols, Mark Nichols, Bryan Ramsey, David Christenberry, Trent Calhoun, Chase Beam, Joe Puttnam, Watts Bumgardner.
