Thomas Barnes

Thomas Dixon Barnes, 77, of Bessemer City, passed away April 24, 2017, at Robin Johnson House Dallas. He was born on August 30, 1939, in Rutherford County, to the late Earl Douglas and Johnnie Ruth Neil Barnes.

Tommy was a member of First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from FMC and Gaston County Schools. Tommy enjoyed sitting at Mike's Grill in Bessemer City, mowing his grass and the Carolina Tar Heels.

He is survived by his son, Shane Barnes and wife Dana; daughter, Caroline Barnes; grandchildren Lyndsey Barnes, Carly Barnes, Thomas "Ace" Barnes; brother Neil Douglas Barnes and his children.

His funeral service will be held Saturday April 29, 2017 at 12 noon at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Ravan, Dr. Charles Brawley and Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Tommy's family will receive friends Saturday April 29, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12 noon at the church.

Interment will follow at Westview Garden with full military rites by the Bessemer City American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.
