Van Pruitt

Van Tyrone "Ty" Pruitt, 62, passed away on Friday July 14, 2017 while at Robin Johnson House. He was born July 2, 1955 in Gaston County, to the late Andy and Ella Kate Kelly Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Hope; brothers, Dap Pruitt and Tap Pruitt; sisters, Sable Meeks, and Betty Culbertson; brother-in-laws, Andy Killette, Sr., and Tommy Meeks, Jr.

Ty (Va-Va, Tydde) was a loving father, brother, grandfather, friend, and the Carolina Tarheel's #1 fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Katie Miller and husband David of Gastonia, daughter, Erica Pruitt and partner Wes Anthony of Gastonia; son, Willie Buckner and wife Brittney of Gastonia; step-children, David Walker, Sr., Wendi Lytton; brothers, Hap Pruitt, and Matt Pruitt, both of Gastonia, Chris Pruitt and wife Carolyn of Candler; sisters, Sandy Killette of Gastonia, Debra Griggs and husband Steve both of Gastonia, Mitzi Weiderman and partner, Randy Darsham of Winston-Salem, Candace Alexander and husband Rick of Ranlo, Kay Kellerman of Seattle, Washington; brother in Christ, Larry (Flyrod) Fowler. grandchildren, Christopher Sutton, Emily Sutton, Nevaeh Buckner, Jordan Buckner, and Kayleigh-Ann Buckner.

A celebration of Ty's life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July16, 2017 in the Sisk-Butler Chapel with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

His family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
