Vera Martin

Vera Ruth Martin, 86, of Lincolnton, passed away at home after her courageous battle with cancer on July 18, 2022. She was born on December 26, 1935, in Gaston County, to the late Clyde Alexander Jonas and Violet Ruth Lineberger Jonas.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Daniel Martin; brothers, Leon Jonas, Harry Jonas; sister, Joyce Fox.

Vera was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the sisters in service circle group. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, listening to country music, going dancing, planting flowers and reading. Vera was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Left to cherish her memories are son, Michael Snider (Cynthia); daughter, Alecia Sparkman (Jeff); stepdaughters Wanda Nixon (Paul), Michelle Gathright; grandchildren Danielle Maggs (Steve), Esprit Elfers, Adam Snider, Eric Snider (Heather), Joseph Snider, Jacob Walker, Daniel Gathright, Joshua Gathright, William Nixon, Matthew Nixon, Nathan Sparkman, Angela Nixon, Makayla Sparkman; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Maggs, Tyson Maggs, Roman Snider, McKenna Snider, Isla Elfers, Mackendra Maggs, Tatum Snider, Bennett Snider, Anthony Snider; sister, Peggy Waites.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas, NC.

Vera’s funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dr. John H. Spencer officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family would like to say thank you to Oncology Specialists of Charlotte for their loving care for our mother, especially Dr. Justin Favaro, Natalie and Valerie and also Melanie Mahadeo, her hospice nurse, for her loving care.
