William Hayes

William “Bill” Ronald Hayes, 93, of China Grove, passed away at Atrium Cabarrus on January 29, 2023. He was born April 24, 1929, in Los Angeles County, California to the late Ronald Hayes and Julia Black Hayes.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Bolick Hayes; daughter Elizabeth “Kay” Hayes Atwell; fur baby Beans.

Bill was an Army veteran who served during World War II with the 82nd Air Borne. He was one of the first thirteen original Gaston County Police Officers, he also worked for the Gastonia Police Department and Gaston County Sheriff’s Office. Bill loved spending time with his family and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory is Ronald Hayes (Valerie); Mark Hayes (Katherine); Sabra Morris (Timothy); grandchildren, Matthew Hayes, Hope Thornburg, Haley Jackson, Allison McSwain, Elliott Hayes, Morgan Lyon, Ethan Hayes, Addison Morris; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

Bill’s graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens
