William Popwell

GLENN   POPWELL



William Glenn Popwell, Sr., 63, passed away August 12, 2012, at Robin Johnson House, Dallas.  He was born June 29, 1949, in Mecklenburg County to the late Raymond T. and Helen Woods Popwell.



Glenn served in the United States Army in Korea and retired from Freightliner in Mt. Holly after 30 years of service.  He loved blues music, the great outdoors, fishing, horses, and NASCAR.  Glenn was a devoted husband and a loving father who was very proud of his kids. His granddaughters were the loves of his life.  His family and friends have many cherished memories from their times together.  His passing will leave a great void in their lives.



Glenn is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diana Perry Popwell; son, Sonny Popwell and wife Julie of Bessemer City; daughter, Lisa Scates and husband Donald of Bessemer City; brothers, Raymond Popwell and wife Shirley of York, SC, James Popwell and wife Cathy of Kannapolis; granddaughters, Jessica Scates, Ella Popwell, Emma Popwell.



In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Patti Caudle.



Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.



Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
